Things to Consider for Delta Excess, Overweight and Oversize Baggage:

Excess Baggage: The airline charges extra fees for the excess. The excess baggage may cause the flight to be delayed as there is a certain amount of space for carrying the bags, and the excess luggage may cause problems for the other passengers, too. So, make sure that you are carrying the important things in your luggage only. For domestic flights, Delta charges $150 for a third checked bag, but fees can vary depending on the destination.

Overweight Baggage: For overweight baggage, the bags should not exceed the weight limit of 50 pounds for domestic and 70 pounds for international flights. If your bag exceeds the limit, you may have to pay the fees, which is around $100 USD depending on the route. However, it is up to Delta to deny your oversized bag. Delta will not accept any bag over 70 pounds unless it's a special item like sports equipment, etc.

Oversize Baggage: Delta Airlines checked baggage size should be the overall sum of length, width, and weight and should not exceed over 62 inches. Passengers with oversized bags will face certain consequences of paying additional fees around $200 USD or the airline will not accept your oversized bag. The oversized bag larger than 80 inches will not be accepted by the airlines and will be shipped as cargo, which may take 1-2 days to reach the destination.
